The G20 in Brisbane seems to have been a great success. With the world leaders gathering across scattered locations through the many dominant buildings in the CBD of Brisbane, and the C20 marching along side, the safety of all was maintained. There were 37 fires across the state of Queensland over this long weekend, coupled with record-breaking high temperatures, placing demands on our fire & rescue resources at extreme levels.
There were no fires reported within the secluded zones of the diplomatic summit, but preparation and prevention were paramount and in place. As a spectator via television broadcast (in the air-conditioning of my lounge room), it was a pleasure to witness the little red cylinders strategically placed throughout the many buildings being occupied by all persons and extended entourage.
Well done Australia and in particular, well done Brisvegas.
